The images below come from the Integrating Spectral and RTI Project, which compared two experimental integrations to the two separate previously established technologies. For the full comparison of the different approaches see the project Product Summary page. The project successfully created a way to create images that combine the enhanced color from spectral imaging and the interactive experience of texture from RTI.
Web RTI makes it possible to view RTI/PTM images through a web browser without downloading a separate viewer. Clicking the light bulb turns on the light control, which allows one to change the light angle by clicking or dragging in the frame. WebRTI also makes it possible to view parts of the image without downloading the complete file. Like Google Maps, the browser will load the detail it needs as the user pans and zooms (it may take a couple of seconds for the full detail to fill in). For the full selection of enhancements and quality it is still best to install a dedicated viewer and download the PTM files.
